Dr. Anna Micheli is a postdoctoral researcher at the Museology Research Laboratory, Ionian University, and a collaborating teaching staff member at the Hellenic Open University, Greece. She has previously worked on national and EU-funded research projects at the University of the Aegean, also serving as a postdoctoral fellow focused on the digital transformation of culture and tourism (“e-Aegean CulTour – Art & Action Network”). Since 2025, she has been leading the research project “FluSeUM – Museum Flow and Visitor Satisfaction” (HFRI/ELIDEK), which investigates data-driven protocols for personalized museum experiences.
She holds a Ph.D. in the Sociology of Art and Culture (University of the Aegean) and postgraduate degrees in Classical Archaeology, Human Geography, Applied Sociology, and Philosophy of Arts and a BA in Classics – Archaeology and Art History (University of Padua, Italy). She is the author of four academic monographs and numerous peer-reviewed articles.
Dr. Anna Micheli’s research focuses on museum experience design, visitor flow analysis, and the application of big data methodologies to museology, cultural management, and public engagement. Her work combines sociological theory, digital humanities, and participatory approaches to explore how museums and heritage institutions can become more inclusive, responsive, and socially meaningful.
Research interests: Sociology of art, Public Archaeology, Museology, Museographic semiotics, Aesthetics, Cultural management and communication, and Arts-based participatory action research.
