Project Overview
The project focused on the development of modern museological frameworks to enhance the operational and curatorial profile of the Corfu Art Gallery (Kerkyraiki Pinakothiki). Led by Professor Georgios Papaioannou, the initiative integrated digital strategy and innovative exhibition design to bridge the gap between the institution and the public.
Key components of the project include:
– Strategic Management: Formulation of management policies aimed at professionalizing the gallery’s operations, focusing on artist relations and customer engagement.
– Digital Integration: Development of a Digital Strategy framework, which included the pilot evaluation of Augmented Reality (AR) applications to make paintings “talk” to students and visitors, thereby enhancing the educational experience.
– Innovative Curating: Support for experimental exhibitions such as “Fragments”, where the public contributed personal objects to the gallery, transforming visitors from passive observers into active “museum creators”.
– Cultural Identity: Alignment of the gallery’s exhibition strategy with the broader cultural landscape of Corfu, emphasizing the preservation of Ionian art and its promotion to international audiences.
