Project Overview
This study focused on the creation of a pioneering museum dedicated to the Hellenic-Christian heritage within the jurisdiction of the Holy Metropolis of Sweden and all Scandinavia. Under the direction of Professor Georgios Papaioannou, the project aimed to establish a cultural hub in Stockholm that would preserve the identity of the Greek Diaspora while promoting Orthodox tradition to the Scandinavian public.
Key features of the study included:
– Modern Museology: Integrating contemporary exhibition techniques to interpret the history of the Greek presence in Scandinavia from the 1960s to the present
– Cultural Diplomacy: Strategic planning to position the museum as a bridge between Hellenism and Nordic cultures, fostering inter-religious and cross-cultural dialogue.
– Heritage Management: Developing a framework for the documentation and display of ecclesiastical treasures, historical archives, and artifacts belonging to the Greek communities in Northern Europe.
– Operational Sustainability: Designing a sustainable financial model adapted to the Swedish institutional environment, focusing on educational outreach and international cultural tourism.
