CHRONOS: Launch of a New Research Project with The Cyprus Institute
The CHRONOS research project, in which the Museology Research Laboratory of Ionian University participates in collaboration with The Cyprus Institute, officially commenced in August 2026.
CHRONOS focuses on the development of digital approaches and infrastructures for the documentation, management and interpretation of cultural heritage, with particular attention to the needs and possibilities of smaller museums and cultural heritage institutions. The participation of the Museology Research Laboratory in the project builds on its ongoing research activity in the fields of museology, digital cultural heritage and the use of emerging technologies for the documentation, interpretation and communication of cultural heritage. The project brings together complementary expertise from Ionian University and The Cyprus Institute, strengthening international research collaboration and creating opportunities for the development and exchange of innovative approaches to digital cultural heritage. The launch of CHRONOS marks a new stage in the research collaboration between the two institutions and further expands the international research activities of the Museology Research Laboratory in the field of digital cultural heritage.
